Real Estate Agents do not require a bachelor’s degree, though as the market becomes competitive some firms are looking for those with college experience. Nevertheless, most agents only need to be licensed in the state in which they would like to practice. Licenses are not transferable across state lines, and vary by state.


There are a variety of certifications that you can pursue as a real estate agent. Some certifications are specific to agents who represent buyers, while others are for agents who represent sellers. Requirements for licensure vary by state but generally involve the following:

  • Take real estate courses
